Greta Blackburn, a veteran of Hollywood movies, TV series guest starring roles and mini-series, will take us on a journey examining the history of torch songs, the criteria that makes a torch song and an inquiry into contemporary examples of this stories genre. From the Gershwins to Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Sondheim the historical repertoire of torch songs is huge but growing over time. Selections will include classics like “My Funny Valentine” “Night and Day” and “Fever” as well as some contemporary and surprises.
